Class review and stall set up

In class today we realised there were several things that we needed to think about, act on or find out.
- What scale we make certain shapes. We decided we would have a range of sizes of shapes so that the building wasn't so limited
- Which shapes we all like best so that we can make more of them: Annabel and Josepth started to design more shapes that included the parts we liked about our previous trial.
- How will people interact with it; whether we want to make this competitive or more of an absent minded activity. We found that we were absent mindedly making things and building the tree as we were sitting at the table in our group and there was no sense of competition between us, so this might be the way to go.
- Where our stall will be: This will depend on whether we make a game out of it or not e.g. if we didn't include competition it might be good for us to be placed near one of the tea or relaxing area groups
- Whether we have only one 'tree' or some more trees structures coming off the walls of our stall. This will depend on how much floor space we are allocated.
- What are we placing the tree on? - Chris came up with a solution for this using the off-cuts.
- Where do we keep the shapes for people to pick up?

I drew up an example of what our stall could look like if we had space to have two walls and enough space for extra branches to be protruding out of these. I took the shape from the off-cuts from when we cut out the tree. This is a good way to reduce waste in our stall.

I then added colour to see what worked best and get a better view of it in our minds.

I tried a light brown to get an idea of what it would look like with a plain cardboard background

Lastly I experimented with the MDF pieces being painted all different colours with a black backdrop. I tried both everything being coloured as well as with some parts of MDF remaining unpainted.

Our next step is to make a full-scale tree and start painting pieces as a trial.
